June feels like the wettest month in Svalbard. The snow starts to recede and everything begins to melt. It is a wonderfulAre feeling to see the landscape start to come alive again but things can get a little bit soggy!
By this time of year many of the millions of migratory birds have returned to Svalbard including kittiwakes, guillemots, fulmars and my particular favourite eider ducks!
Hundreds of eider ducks make their nests by the town dog yard as the dogs tend to keep the foxes away, a clever strategy unless one of the dogs escapes! And of course then there is the road to navigate.
